The subject of psychology has two main aspects – pure and applied. Pure psychology formulates techniques for the study of human behaviour, which finds the practical shape in its applied aspects, i.e. branches of applied psychology like clinical psychology, crime psychology, industrial psychology, occupational psychology and educational psychology. Educational Psychology is a branch of applied psychology that focuses on understanding the processes of teaching and learning that takes place in formal environments. It is a combination or overlapping of two separate fields of study; psychology and education but is characterised as a distinct discipline with its own theories, research methods, problems and techniques. In recent times, a lot of emphasis in laid on the attitudes of educationalists as they shape the worldview of the next generation. Hence the importance of this field has arisen.
Sports psychology is the study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise, and physical activity. Some sports psychologists work with professional athletes and coaches to improve performance and increase motivation. Other professionals utilise exercise and sports to enhance people‘s lives and well-being throughout the entire lifespan.
