Description

Psychology maybe defined as the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour in a given context. Human beings cannot be divided into types because every human being has an individual life style.
Nature is so rich and the possibilities for stimuli are so numerous, that it is not possible for two persons to be identical. If we speak of types, therefore, it is only as an intellectual device to identify the similarities between individuals. People who take types and classifications too seriously tend to pigeon-hole people thereby failing to see how they can be put into any other classification. The classification by types can thus be a source of confusion if we do not realise that types are merely convenient abstractions.
A person’s behaviour in a given context maybe correct or incorrect largely depending upon their role. For example, a person laughing in a comedy show is an appropriate reaction however at a funeral the same reaction would be deemed inappropriate. What triggers the response would also be of note as that would determine the thought process and psyche of the individual in question. This book explores this subject and would be helpful for students and researchers.
